On Feb 14 2024, two separate delegations visited Mekelle, Ethiopia, to discuss key issues with the Tigray leadership.
UN delegation, led by Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Ms. Hanna Serwa has met with various stakeholders and discuss key issues with the Tigray leadership specific agenda not publicly available.
German delegation also held discussions with Tigray Interim Administration President Getachew Reda focused on the implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement, specifically, situation of displaced persons, implementation of troop dismissal and resettlement, securing Tigray territory and humanitarian aid and famine in Tigray.
Both delegations’ visits highlight ongoing efforts to address critical issues arising from the Tigray conflict and implement the peace agreement. While the UN delegation’s agenda remains undisclosed, the German delegation’s focus on specific aspects of the agreement suggests they may delve deeper into implementation challenges
