Mekelle, Tigray – The Generation Saving Society, a community-based organization in Tigray, Ethiopia, is doubling down on its efforts to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS during its 24th General Assembly held today in Mekelle.
Hiwot Berhane, Chairperson of the Tigray Generation Saving Association, highlighted the critical role the organization plays in preventing the spread of the virus. Fisseha Berhane, Head of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Process at the Tigray Health Bureau, further emphasized the association’s positive impact, crediting their work with reducing HIV/AIDS prevalence in the region.
However, Fisseha also raised concerns about “coalition invading forces” exacerbating the HIV/AIDS situation in Tigray. He stressed the “significant role” the Generation Saving Association plays in countering these negative influences and protecting public health.
The General Assembly participants reaffirmed their commitment to tackling HIV/AIDS, pledging to redouble their efforts towards prevention and control. With renewed leadership and unwavering commitment, the Generation Saving Society aims to play a crucial role in safeguarding the health and well-being of Tigray’s communities by effectively combating the spread of HIV/AIDS
