Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – In a press conference held today, General Tadesse Woreda, Vice-President of the Provisional Administration of Tigray, addressed the ongoing implementation of the Pretoria Agreement.
General Woreda highlighted recent developments, stating that concrete agreements have been reached for key areas:

The implementation will be completed until April 8, 2024 in South Tigray and Tselemt as well as up to July 8, 2024 in West Tigray

These agreements outline a detailed disarmament plan, dismantling of provisional administrations, and a process for the return of internally displaced persons (IDPs). General Tadesse emphasized the critical role of the African Union in overseeing these steps.

Addressing concerns about renewed conflict, General Woreda refuted claims of warmongering. He reiterated the Tigray region’s commitment to peace and its intention to play a constructive role in resolving national issues.
The Tigray administration, General Woreda continued, is actively preparing for implementation. He emphasized the importance of creating favorable conditions, including infrastructure improvements, for the safe return of displaced persons.

He expressed his expectation for the federal government to reciprocate this commitment to ensure a smooth and successful implementation process.
