The Tigray Interim Administration officially launched the “Tigray Democratic Governance Programme” today, aimed at strengthening democratic practices in the region following years of conflict.
The program, officially unveiled at a ceremony attended by regional president Getachew Reda, will focus on three key areas: justice, governance, and civil service reforms.
“We will work to implement democratic governance in Tigray by using all capacities and coordinating all efforts,” Reda declared at the ceremony.
General Tsadkan, Vice President and Head of the Cabinet Secretariat for Democratization, emphasized the program’s potential benefits. “This program is crucial for promoting justice, transparency, and effective public service delivery in Tigray,” he remarked.
Set to commence next month, the initiative will be implemented in collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Interim Administration, UNDP agencies, the Bureau of Justice, the Bureau of Civil Service, and the Police Commission.
With a dedicated budget of $5 million, the program is expected to run for a period of one year. Its success will be closely monitored as a potential cornerstone for Tigray’s ongoing recovery and democratic advancement.
