MEKELLE, Ethiopia – Tigray Interim Administration President Getachew Reda commemorated the 49th anniversary of February 11th, emphasizing the enduring legacy of the regional struggle and expressing the Tigray People’s Liberation Front’s (TPLF) commitment to the future.
Reda declared, “February 11th is not a history that will be erased,” underscoring the significance of the day in shaping Tigray’s identity and ongoing endeavors. He highlighted the “heroes of the people” who fought and sacrificed, and the TPLF’s values that guided development and self-determination for the region.
The president acknowledged the current difficulties but emphasized the TPLF’s enduring purpose. He stated, “A party that ensured self-determination, development, and sacrifices… should not go back.” He advocated for updating ideas while staying true to the party’s core principles, ensuring its relevance for future generations.
He expressed regret for the lack of a peaceful political path and blamed “enemies” and “conspiracies” for forcing the TPLF into war. He reiterated the TPLF’s commitment to peaceful solutions and working for the people of Tigray.
