Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) has announced the return of Tigray region clubs to the leagues they competed in before the war.
This decision comes after consultations with the government and Tigray regional leaders, aligning with the Pretoria Peace Agreement.
Due to the conflict, Tigray clubs were unable to participate in the Premier League, Senior League, and First League for over two years.
The EFF, acknowledging the exceptional circumstances, opted against relegating these teams based on their absence.
Instead, Tigray clubs will return to their respective pre-war leagues, as per their standings in 2017.
This decision is documented in a letter sent by the EFF to relevant parties, including the Ethiopian Premier League.
