PM Abiy Urges New Generation to Build on Forefathers’ Legacy

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed inaugurated the Adwa Victory Memorial on February 11th, calling on the younger generation to learn from the triumphs of their ancestors and use their spirit to solve contemporary challenges.

In the ceremony, held 128 years after the Battle of Adwa, celebrated Ethiopian resilience and self-determination, Abiy attributed the memorial’s construction to “chance, struggle, and hard work,” emphasizing their importance in shaping history.

He acknowledged the privilege of being Ethiopian and the unique legacy of heroes like Minilik, Balcha, and Alula.
The Prime Minister urged the youth to inherit the positive aspects of the past, focusing on eradicating poverty, defending the nation, preserving dignity, and achieving food sovereignty.

He stressed the importance of distinguishing between government interests and the national good, a lesson learned from Ethiopian ancestors.

Abiy’s message highlighted the importance of learning from the past and using that knowledge to build a brighter future for Ethiopia
