Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – In a move to strengthen Ethiopia’s democratic institutions, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed appointed Adem Farah as the new Head of the Democracy Building Center Coordinator Office. Farah, a prominent figure in Ethiopian politics, will hold the position with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister.
Farah brings a wealth of experience to the role. He previously served as the Speaker of the House of Federation and currently holds the position of Vice President of the ruling Prosperity Party. The Democracy Building Center Coordinator Office, directly accountable to the Prime Minister, is tasked with overseeing the performance and ensuring the institutional independence of key democratic bodies in Ethiopia, including the National Electoral Board and the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission
