Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Bete Urgesa, a political officer of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), was granted bail of 100,000 birr by the Addis Ababa City Administrative Court’s Bole division trial.

Urgesa had been in prison for the past two weeks on charges of inciting chaos and violence in Addis Ababa. The court ordered his release after the investigating police failed to provide results of a phone investigation.

Urgesa was arrested alongside French journalist Antoine Galindo two weeks ago. Galindo was released from prison and deported last week. Urgesa remained in jail until the court hearing today, where he was granted bail.
