Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Norway has pledged $75 million to support Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts in sustainable forestry development and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The agreement was signed by Ethiopian Finance Minister Ahmed Shida and Norwegian Minister of Climate and Environment Andreas Eriksen.
This financial aid aims to bolster Ethiopia’s initiatives in building and managing forests in an environmentally friendly manner. The funds will be used for various projects, including sustainable development of forests and degraded lands, and environmental protection initiatives,
This collaboration builds upon the existing partnership between Norway and Ethiopia on climate change initiatives. Minister Shida highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the two nations, emphasizing Norway’s continued support for Ethiopia’s climate change endeavors.
