KYIV, Ukraine – In a significant escalation, Russia launched a major missile attack on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.
Early reports suggest at least 17 people were injured in the assault.
Schools, residential buildings, and industrial facilities all suffered damage from falling debris, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Ukrainian air defenses claim a successful interception, stating they “shot down” all 31 missiles fired by Russia. This claim remains unconfirmed at this time.
The attack comes amidst lingering tensions following accusations by Russian President Vladimir Putin that Ukraine attempted to disrupt last week’s Russian presidential election.
Putin secured another term in office.
