New York, NY – The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) will participate in the 68th UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the UN Headquarters in New York. The CSW is a key annual event dedicated to women’s empowerment, gender equality, and the implementation of effective gender policies.
This year’s CSW focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls by tackling poverty and strengthening institutions with a gendered perspective. IWPG, an UN-accredited NGO led by Chairwoman Hyun Sook Yoon, plans to actively contribute to the event through an NGO Parallel Event and a co-hosted Side Event with Côte d’Ivoire.
On March 18th, IWPG will hold an NGO Parallel Event at the UN Church Center (CCUN) to explore the connections between peace, gender equality, and the role of women’s solidarity in achieving these goals.
The event will delve into the links between sustainable peace, poverty, and gender equality, strengthening women’s participation in peacebuilding processes, the power of solidarity among women from diverse backgrounds, and fostering peacebuilding and gender equality through education.
On March 20th, IWPG will co-host a Side Event with the UN Permanent Mission of Côte d’Ivoire and the Côte d’Ivoire Ministry of Women, Family and Children. The event, held at the AU Conference Room, will focus on how women can break the cycle of poverty and violence, build a strong foundation for women’s rights and empowerment, and share best practices.
