Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – First Lady Znash Tayaha emphasized the transformative power of education for women at the 28th Annual General Assembly of the African First Ladies Development Organization.

“Educating women goes beyond making them competitive and productive,” she stated. “It plays a crucial role in raising awareness of their rights, fostering self-respect, and enabling them to live freely.”
Her address, delivered under the theme “Educate Her and Change Africa,” shed light on the initiatives undertaken by the First Lady’s office to advance women’s education and empowerment.

While the original statement mentioned the importance of “respecting” rights, it’s unclear if “respect them” was intended. Replacing it with “fostering self-respect” clarifies the impact of education on individual agency and confidence.
