Ethiopians Urged to Embrace Peace and Dialogue by President Sahlework Zewde

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – President Sahlework Zewde called on Ethiopians to prioritize peace and cultivate a culture of dialogue for resolving national issues.

The President made these remarks during a discussion with Ethiopians residing in Switzerland, held in Basel on her way to the 3rd International Cooperation Forum.

President Zewde emphasized the importance of the diaspora strengthening their ties with Ethiopia and increasing their participation in the country’s development.

She stressed, “We Ethiopians need to understand the value of peace and develop a culture of solving problems through dialogue. Everyone has a role to play in making this a reality.”

The Ethiopian diaspora participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to engage with the President and presented their views and questions on current affairs.

Ambassador Tsagaab Kebebe, Ethiopia’s Permanent Representative in Geneva, moderated the discussion.

He highlighted the importance of active participation from the diaspora community, encouraging them to openly share their opinions and concerns.

Ambassador Kebebe further confirmed the mission’s commitment to supporting collaboration with the diaspora and fostering their multifaceted involvement in Ethiopia’s progress.
