Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and First Lady Zinash Tayachew arrived in Dar es Salaam today, February 29, 2024, for a three-day official visit to Tanzania. The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and bolster economic collaboration between the two East African nations.
Prime Minister Ahmed was formally welcomed at the State House by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan. The visit comes at the invitation of President Hassan and follows a two-day state visit by Prime Minister Ahmed to Kenya.
The agenda for the visit includes discussions on various areas of cooperation, including facilitating the commercial export of electricity by Tanzania to other countries and fostering student exchanges and curriculum development, with Tanzania potentially offering Swahili language instruction in Ethiopia.
The visit is expected to conclude on March 2, 2024.
