Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Ethiopia has a long history of overcoming challenges through sacrifice, according to a statement issued today by the Government Communication Service (GCS).
The statement highlights the sacrifices made by Ethiopians throughout history to protect their nation’s sovereignty and honor. It specifically references the brutal 1937 massacre in Addis Ababa, where Fascist Italy killed over 30,000 civilians in retaliation for an attack on their leader.
“Every year, we remember the heroes who defended Ethiopia with their blood and bones,” the statement reads. “Our nation was developed by the blood and bones of the Ethiopians… Ethiopia was brought back from the ashes through sacrifice.”
The GCS emphasizes that Ethiopia continues to produce patriots who strive for self-sufficiency, national unity, and the preservation of territorial integrity. The statement concludes with a call to action, urging all Ethiopians to contribute to this national spirit of sacrifice.
