Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Ethiopian Foreign Minister Ambassador Taye Atsiksilase met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Molly Fee and Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Mike Hammer today, discussing the implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement and ongoing efforts towards lasting peace in the region.
Ambassador Atsiksilase reiterated the Ethiopian government’s firm commitment to upholding the agreement, signed in November 2022, to end the two-year conflict in northern Ethiopia.
He briefed the U.S. delegation on the current progress and highlighted ongoing preparations for transitional justice mechanisms and a national consultation process.
The discussion, according to the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also covered broader issues of mutual concern, including continental and global matters.
This engagement underscores the continued international involvement in supporting the peace process and stability in Ethiopia.
The Pretoria Peace Agreement signed in November 2022 marked a significant step towards ending the conflict between the Ethiopian government and Tigrayan forces.
