Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, The Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) is working to restore electricity service in the Amhara, Afar, and parts of Tigray regions following an interruption caused by damage to power lines.
The service was disrupted due to an attack on power lines, with the government and Fano militants being blamed.
The 230 KV high voltage transmission line connecting Bahr Dar, Debretabor, Wind Exit, Gashena, and Alamata has been repaired and brought back online and electricity has been restored to Bahardar, Gondar, and Tigray cities.
Efforts to reconnect Semera and other cities have been unsuccessful. Abe, Director of Operations and Maintenance for the North West Region of EEP, confirmed to VOA that the restoration of electricity to several cities and highlighted the ongoing efforts to reach Semera and other affected areas
