Addis Ababa, Ethiopia -Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations (CSO) urge for conflict resolution before moving towards the implementation of transitional justice.
Eight Ethiopian civil society organizations stated that the ongoing conflict in the northern part of the country hinders the implementation of transitional justice.
The organizations released a joint statement with recommendations for the government’s transitional justice policy.
One of the recommendations is to establish a system for holding the Eritrean army accountable for alleged human rights violations.
Yared Haile Maryam, the director general of the Ethiopian Human Rights Defenders Center, emphasized the need for public discussion on the draft transitional justice policy before its approval.
