Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) champions the fundamental belief that peace begins within the mind of each individual. Their vision is a world where women, united by compassion and a strong sense of responsibility, become the architects of global peace.

Led by Chairwoman Hyun Sook Yoon, IWPG actively engages women around the world in peacebuilding initiatives. They recognize the essential role women play in fostering peace at all levels – within families, communities, and across nations.

To inspire a global shift towards a mindset of peace, particularly among women, IWPG is constructing Peace Monuments around the world. These monuments stand as powerful symbols, a constant reminder of a world that celebrates peace.

The first IWPG Peace Monument was erected on September 6, 2022, in Mindanao, Davao de Oro, Philippines. This location holds particular significance. In January 2014, HWPL, a peacebuilding organization affiliated with IWPG, played a crucial role in mediating a civil peace treaty that brought an end to a long-lasting conflict in Mindanao.
