Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Ethiopia is embarking on a significant endeavor to enhance the lives of its citizens by investing $45 million in a project to improve electricity infrastructure in ten key cities. This initiative, funded by the World Bank, aims to tackle the challenges of power outages and flooding, both arising from the deterioration of existing distribution lines.
The project encompasses a multifaceted approach, including the construction of 195 brand new transformers, the modernization and capacity expansion of 1009 existing ones, and the crucial expansion and improvement of 1,107 kilometers of medium voltage lines. These upgrades are anticipated to yield a multitude of benefits.
The project will address the current limitations of the distribution lines, ensuring a more robust and reliable power supply for the targeted cities and their surrounding regions.
