Bahir Dar, Ethiopia – February 28, 2024 – Efforts to establish peace in the Amhara region are underway, according to Colonel Tesfaye Ephraim, head of military psychology in the Northwestern Command. This initiative aims to create a stable environment conducive to development efforts.
The announcement comes as the 5th round of rehabilitation training graduates for individuals involved in security issues. The graduation ceremony was held at Bahir Dar prison.
Colonel Tesfaye highlighted the success of these joint efforts, stating that “the security problem is being solved step by step.” Security forces are working to ensure peace and stability, paving the way for government development projects.
Individuals who participated in the training are encouraged to act as role models for peacebuilding within their communities.

Commander of Regiment 5 of the Federal Police North West Department, emphasized the importance of holding perpetrators accountable to achieve lasting peace. Graduates are urged to share their newfound understanding of peace with others.
Officials from the Behar Dar Prison Department reaffirmed the institution’s focus on rehabilitation through vocational training and moral guidance. Inmates are equipped with skills in woodworking, metalworking,
weaving, and other trades to become productive members of society upon release.
The training coordinator, Abraham Asefa, confirmed that the program covered the importance of peace and related issues. The graduates received certificates upon completion of the program.
