In the ongoing conflict between government security forces and Fano armed groups in the Amhara region, 967 health facilities were looted and 298 schools were damaged.

Abdul Karim, Head of Amhara Regional Health Office, condemned the actions of “extremist groups” who he says are disrupting the lives of the region’s people.

“They have destroyed the health infrastructure of the people of the region; they stole medicines.

They also hijacked ambulances,” he said in a statement. He added that 124 ambulances were taken by militants.

Mulunesh Dese (Dr.), head of the regional education office, reported that 298 schools have been partially or completely damaged due to the conflict.
