Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – African leaders and key stakeholders will gather on Friday, February 16th, for a high-level side event on Climate Finance for Agriculture and Food Security. The event, organized by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), will be held on the margins of the 37th Session of the Assembly of the AU Heads of State and Government.
The event comes amidst growing concerns about the inadequacy of current climate finance commitments to support Africa’s agrifood system transformation. Despite being the most vulnerable to climate change, African countries face a significant funding gap, with estimates ranging from $290 billion to $440 billion needed between 2020 and 2030 to address loss and
