African diplomats gather in Addis Ababa for training on boosting intra-continental trade

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Ambassadors and diplomats from across Africa convened in Addis Ababa today for a two-day training focused on accelerating the implementation of the African Free Trade Zone Agreement (AfCFTA). The initiative, aimed at fostering closer economic ties and zwiększający the volume of trade between African nations, was held at the African Union headquarters.

The training, led by the African Leadership Academy, brought together key figures to discuss and strategize on effective implementation of the AfCFTA. Head of the Academy, Zadig Abraha, emphasized the crucial role of ambassadors and diplomats in driving forward this continental initiative.
“Our ambassadors and diplomats serve as vital bridges between nations,” Abraha stated.

“Equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the AfCFTA will be instrumental in realizing its full potential for boosting intra-African trade and economic growth.”

The training program covered various aspects of the AfCFTA, including, understanding the agreement’s key provisions and protocols, identifying and addressing challenges to implementation, developing strategies to promote trade and investment within the AfCFTA framework,  and building partnerships and collaboration among African countries
This initiative highlights the ongoing efforts to leverage the AfCFTA’s potential to transform Africa’s economic landscape.

By empowering key stakeholders like ambassadors and diplomats, the training program strives to pave the way for a more integrated and prosperous African continent.
