Addis Ababa University Celebrates Graduation of 271 New Medical Professionals

15 February 2024 Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Addis Ababa University held a graduation ceremony today, celebrating the achievements of 271 new medical professionals, ready to serve their communities.

The ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including Dr. Derje Duguma, Minister of State for Health, and Dr. Samuel Kfle, President of Addis Ababa University.

This graduating class is diverse, with 158 men and 113 women embarking on their medical careers. 240 received Doctorates in Medical Education, 9 earned Doctorates in Dentistry, and 22 graduated with a BSc Anesthesiology Bachelor Degree.

Notably, 198 graduates achieved honors, showcasing their dedication and academic excellence.”This graduating class represents a vital force for strengthening Ethiopia’s healthcare system,” said Dr. Derje Duguma. “Their commitment to serving their communities and improving public health is truly commendable.”Dr. Samuel Kfle expressed his pride in the graduates, stating, “These young professionals have faced rigorous challenges and emerged with the knowledge and skills needed to make a real difference in the lives of others.”This graduation ceremony marks a significant milestone for these individuals and a positive step forward for Ethiopia’s healthcare landscape.
